chiaroscuro

For this project, you will achieve a high degree of realism and the effect of sfumato with reductive drawing. The objective and outcome will be a chiaroscuro drawing. You have choice of subject matter, cloudscapes with varying landscapes and seascapes from a photo (provided). The challenge is to discern value relationships within small, abstract areas. This project will require several in class and out of class hours.

This was the first time I have ever used charcoal, at first I thought that it was messy, even though I am a messy artist, however when I started to erase it became enjoyable and it was fun drawing the water and make it realistic.

Self-portrait; focus on lighting, range of values, use of elements of art, observe and life drawing 

Mix medium; charcoal & pastel colors
I used procreate to see color and Mexican embroidery. My idea for this project was to put something the identifies me and something that I love. I put my dog as someone that I love and the embroidery as to represent my culture. I decided to do charcoal because it would be the second time using it and pastel because I wanted to add color and I have always wanted to try using pastels.
