artist philosophy

One thing that inspires me about creating something is that different people have different feelings or interpretations of the same piece of art. Art can live forever.

I started drawing in the fourth grade; in middle school, I joined the art class, which introduced me to ceramics and figure making, and learned basic drawing techniques. Unfortunately, there were no more art classes offered in eighth grade. In high school, I took art classes from ninth to tenth grade, in which I improved my drawing skills. During my Junior and Senior years, I enjoyed my IB Visual Arts; I gained a new perspective on art, and learning new techniques became relaxing and exciting.

More than the subject itself, what inspired me was my teacher, Mr.Oliva, who motivated me to go out of my comfort and try new mediums. Now, I am practicing all types of material combinations. Though my skills have yet to catch up to my imagination and creative ideas for art pieces, learning and seeing my mistakes is fun.

Art helps me relax and concentrate on learning new things without being tested. I'm taking ceramics to proceed with Studio Art and learning how to build coils, pinch pods, and more. Outside of school, I paid for online courses in Domestika to learn how to create portraits, figure drawings, character design, and basic principles of drawing people. I love this class, its community, and the subject, which motivates me and inspires me to improve daily.

Throughout the years, I have loved researching the context of the subject or event I am trying to interpret in my artwork. I want to be an artist who can do all types of mediums and does artwork that motivates people to pursue art or creates this feeling of being unable to look away from people. My artwork style right now is not visible or decided because if I stick to one kind, my abilities as an artist and an active learner would be limited, and I would not be able to expand my skills and improve.

As a 3-D Thinker, I possess excellent problem-solving skills, keen aesthetic sensitivity, and visual awareness. Regardless of my profession, I enjoy hobbies and activities that utilize my spatial abilities. I enjoy working on projects that yield tangible results, so I have chosen art as my intended major in college.
